FAQ
What ages is this course for?
I usually have ages 9 to 18 in mind while creating my classes but in my experience, classes like this can fit every age group as long as the child is able to draw out shapes, paint and work with clay. Everyone takes in the information and can enjoy the artwork I show them at their own level. And then they’ll create the art projects at the level they’re at. There is something for everyone to enjoy.
I even bring some of my kids classes to my adult students and they love it! If you have very young children, they will just need more help and involvement from you. I’ve shows as much as possible what the class entails by written description and pictures. You know your child best. Please email me with any questions you have: kidsarttour@rebeccafinch.com.
What will the videos be like?
These video lessons will be taught just as I teach my online classes. They won’t be heavily edited or fancy. It will just be me talking unscripted and will feel like you’re there with me live except I won’t be able to hear or see you. I will show slides on the screen so your child can see the examples, I’ll point out some fun things about the patterns and pictures of products we’ll find them on. Then I’ll switch my camera so they can see my table and what I’m doing as I show your child how to complete the art project.
How will class run?
Class will be a mix of art history and art appreciation coupled with art creation. We will enjoy looking at the Japanese patterns for the day closely, analyzing several variations and seeing how they are used on various products. Then I will show them an example of the finished art project for the lesson and walk them through how to create the artwork.
Are supplies included?
The base digital video and printable PDF purchase at $65 will not include supplies, but I will share a list of supplies that your child will need.
If you would like to bypass all the time shopping, printing, cutting and preparing supplies, you can purchase the Supply Box Add-on and have everything your child needs to complete the lessons and art projects.
What if I have more than one child?
The digital course gives access to all children in your household. If you’re adding on a supply box and have more than one child, add one box at $85 and any extra boxes at $70 to enjoy $15 off each extra box.

Please email me at art@rebeccafinch.com with any questions you have and I’ll respond as soon as I am able.
I have a Bachelors and Masters in Commercial Art from Pensacola Christian College and have been a working artist for over 20 years. I have been an exhibiting artist at West End Gallery and also exhibited in multiple group shows including 171 Cedar Arts, the Arts Council of the Twin Tiers and the Arnot Art Museum.
While I work primarily in oil, sketching and drawing are foundational skills that I still work on today and are needed no matter what art medium your child wants to pursue. I have taught ongoing school year classes to homeschoolers in my home in the past, drawing and oil painting classes to kids and adults, art appreciation and oil painting classes at 171 Cedar Arts, and I currently teach a weekly class to artists from the Elmira Regional Art Society.
KAT Academy classes are structured after art classes I took while at college and are tailored to your child’s age. After taking my classes, students are inspired to continue pursuing art for their own enjoyment and I can’t ask for a higher compliment!
