My Favorite Van Gogh painting
I used to not be much of a Van Gogh fan, but after learning some more about him and spending time with his work, I have found an enjoyment and appreciation for it. When it comes to paintings that are not fully correct or detailed, I enjoy the feeling of the painting, the emotion, the colors and the textures. Vincent’s “Roses” has become one of my favorites of his and I have wanted to do a vase of white flowers in these colors for a while.
In my mind, Vincent and I are painting the same still life with the same background, flowers and vase. And as we are different people and artists, we interpret what we see in our own style of painting. I love the soft green background, white flowers with thick paint and the intense teal vase. All hugged perfectly with a crisp white frame. This was truly a joy to paint.
